Specifically designed to meet the needs of Archaeological and Near Surface Geophysicists, TerraSurveyor is a complete package for downloading, assembling, enhancing, publishing and saving the (2D) geophysical data from a range of instruments.

Site based directory structure

Site based storage of all source, grid, composite and graphic data.
Simple navigation, selection and archiving of Sites and Composites.
Site folders can contain any type of data in addition to TerraSurveyor specific files.

All grids and Composites are stored as XML ASCII files. This means that your data can always be retrieved in the future.

  • The data is stored as source values plus applied processes. Your source is never modified or compromised.
  • When the file is opened, the source data is read and a new version created based on the processes you have applied.
  • The file structure self-documents the data so it could be used by other programs with little effort.

Download data directly from any supported instrument using the same interface:

  • Bartington Grad 601 Fluxgate Gradiometer (Single & Dual Sensor)
  • GeoScan FM36 Fluxgate Gradiometer
  • GeoScan FM256 Fluxgate Gradiometer (data dump mode 1, 2 & 3 only)
  • GeoScan RM15 Resistivity meter + MPX15 multiplexer (All modes)
  • TR/CIA Resistivity meter

Import data from a range of standard ASCII formats and manufacturer specific files:

  • GSSI Profiler
  • Geonics
  • GeoMetrics
  • Scintrex
  • Frobisher
  • GeoPlot
  • UXO
  • ESRI
  • Surfer (ASCII & binary)

Grid Assembly

Grids of data produced by most hand-held instruments, need to be assembled into a single unit, or composite, to display a complete survey.

TerraSurveyor makes this very easy by displaying each grid as a thumbnail and allowing drag-and-drop positioning of each grid file into a survey grid. The size of the survey grid can be easily modified with extra (or fewer) rows and columns.

In addition, grids can be rotated, flipped or otherwise modified to correct for a wide range of errors that may occur during the data collection stage.

Partial grids can also be merged with a simple drag-and-drop action.

GPS Based Data

TerraSurveyor fully supports the requirements of handling and processing GPS based data (see more…)

The survey can be viewed using 6 different methods:

  • Shade (grey or colors, blocks, graduated & contours)
  • Trace
  • 3D (single surface, rotatable & scalable)
  • Relief (movable ‘sun’ lightsource)
  • Spreadsheet
  • Delta (simple shade view showing the difference between any 2 layers)

Data Layers

All surveys are stored as source data plus processes. This means that the source is never compromised and that all processing can always be undone or modified. Processes can be removed, reordered or temporarily turned off to see the difference in effect.

Data Processing

A wide range of processes can be applied to the data. All processes are designed to handle the particular needs of geophysical data and to aid in producing the best possible results. (see more…)

Publish / Print / Export

All surveys are stored as source data plus processes. This means that the source is never compromised and that all processing can always be undone or modified. Processes can be removed, reordered or temporarily turned off to see the difference in effect.

Trial version

TerraSurveyor can be installed on any PC where it will run in Trial mode for 30 days after installation. There are no limitations or restrictions placed on the program while running in Trail mode except that all images and prints will be overprinted with the word ‘Trial’.

Educational Discounts

An educational discount may be available to Universities, Colleges and Schools using the license specifically for teaching purposes. Please Contact DW Consulting for further information.

We are happy to provide training on the use of TerraSurveyor, either at your location or here in the Netherlands (very limited facilities). We are also approved by Bartington’s to provide training on the Grad 601.  Please Contact DW Consulting for further information.

Fixed Exchange rates

Fixed exchange rates are offered for British Sterling, US Dollar & Australian Dollar prices. The exchange rate is normally updated just once per year.

License Types

Licenses are normally controlled by a USB dongle. This allows the program to be installed on any number of PCs, but only the PC with the dongle will be unrestricted in it’s operation. Licenses can also be supplied via ‘machine code’. In this case the license is restricted to single specified PC. The license cannot be transferred but does not require a dongle.

A complete listing of changes to all previous versions is available here

Install the program

Includes context sensitive Help & sample data sets.

Program will run in Trial mode unless a dongle or license is present.

130 page PDF manual

Full documentation on all processes, features and settings. Includes a short tutorial for use with the sample data supplied with the full install.

Only applicable to UK users!

Conversion files needed to work with OSGB36, OSTN02 & OSTN15 georeferenced data.
